Larson almost sweeps the weekend!

Miami never disappoints us. Miami is always a hell of a show. For many years NASCAR’s Championship Race was held at Homestead, Miami racetrack. In 2019, after 18 years, NASCAR decided to move the Championship Race to Pheonix, AZ. As I talked about two weeks ago in that week’s post-race overview, I love the Pheonix, AZ track! I’m a big fan of that venue. But I will say, there’s nothing like a championship race in Miami. November 1 st , 2026, NASCAR will most likely return for the Championship Race. This is the best track to host the Championship Race. The race we saw this past Sunday showed us as fans that this track tests everyone. It shows a different level of skill, different levels of strategy, and a different level of patience. This track also shows us as fans that everyone is being tested to their limits. The cars are being tested, the drivers, the crew chiefs, the pit crews, and even the engineers. There is no room for error when it comes to this track. ...

Rolling the dice on pit lane at Vegas

I want to start by saying Emily and I watched this race from a bar in Orlando, Florida on our honeymoon. I didn’t have my notepad, I wasn’t there in person, I couldn’t hear Mike Joy or Kevin Harvick broadcasting the race… There was no audio. I kind of had to guess what they were saying as things were happening. You don’t realize how much you value the broadcasters doing their job, narrating what’s going on, and explaining things to you until they’re not there. It’s really like watching a sport in silence. I’ll also start by saying I didn’t plan on writing a post-race overview for Phoenix, but I did! So, if you haven’t read it, go back and read it then come read this Vegas post-race overview. How would I describe this Vegas race in one word? Gamble. Christopher Bell’s winning streak has come to an end. The past 3 Sunday’s Bell had won! If he won this past Sunday, he would’ve been on a 4-race winning streak that we haven’t seen since I believe 2007, Jimmie Johnson. But for Bell the...

Blue Pill, Red Pill? Red Tire, Yellow Tire?

While I was on my honeymoon, I didn’t really plan on writing anything on how Phoenix went down (It was the day after my wedding) I ended up watching it from my phone at an airport. I woke up this morning and said to myself “before I write my post-race overview for Vegas, why don’t I put a little something together just for Phoenix?” Because it really was a great race! I didn't want to ignore it and not do a post-race overview for it. One word to describe this race? Judgment. Blue pill, red pill. Red tire, yellow tire. I don’t know about you, but Phoenix is one of my favorite tracks we race on. And we get to see it twice in one year. At the beginning of the season, like I’m talking about now, and the championship race at the very end of the season in November. This track is special because it has an interesting dog leg turn. As a driver, you’re able to “take the short cut” and run off it. I’m going to do my best to show you in photos what I mean. For example, if the 24 car is goi...

Tires win races

It’s already March and we’re talking about the playoffs. We already know who’s in the playoffs. Isn’t that crazy to think? The championship race is going to be here before we know it, November really is right around the corner. OK, let’s get down to it, I told you that with every race there would be a common theme that I would put into one word, that word this week is TIGHT. I was a little heartbroken when Kyle Busch didn’t win. Emily and I were on the edge of our seats. We were holding hands and squeezing each other ‘s hands because we wanted him to win so badly. For those who don’t know, this is a Kyle Busch household. Rowdy nation? How about a Rowdy household. We love Kyle Busch. We are super big Kyle Busch fans. And I know as a NASCAR journalist I’m supposed to really be open minded and not root for a single driver or team. But that’s so hard when I have such a big history and a following of Kyle Busch. We invited him to our wedding. Going back to the race, man we were upse...
